The Szekula Family of Stamp Dealers

EN / DE
Béla Sekula is not only responsible for all his brothers and several next generation family members entering the stamp trade. During his time in Lucerne, he founded four companies: his wholesale and retail business Béla Sekula, Cosmophilatelist AG, Globus AG, and Stamps Import and Export AG. Some of his employees later opened up their own stamp shops, or continued companies originally founded by Béla independently after his departure. Some of them are listed below.

Max Widakovich

Maximilian Widakovich, son of Heinrich Widakovich and Josefa Maria Schacha, was born on October 4, 1904, in Ober St. Veit, part of the Hietzing district of Vienna, Austria. On May 7, 1929, he married Martha Caroline Wietz (February 22, 1901 – December 11, 1947), daughter of Hugo Wietz and Irma Blau, in Ober St. Veit. From 1930, he was listed in Viennese address books as a merchant at Hietzinger Hauptstraße 71, and from 1936 onward as a stamp dealer. He acquired the necessary expertise at Béla Sekula’s Cosmophilatelist AG in Lucerne, where he worked as an authorized signatory from August 1931 to January 1932. He divorced his wife Martha in the summer of 1942. On January 5, 1949, he married Emma Popper, née Neumann (January 21, 1900 – February 21, 1990). From this point on, there is no longer a separate address book entry for him (war-disabled?), but only that of his wife Emma Widakovich as a stationery dealer, still at Hietzinger Hauptstraße 71. Max Widakovich died on December 28, 1982, in Ober St. Veit, where he was also buried.
